Robux
Robux are the virtual currency used within Roblox services. They can purchase digital content, access to experiences, avatar items, and other features from Roblox or platform creators.
They are not legal tender. Roblox states that they have no guaranteed equivalent value in real money. Their use depends on a limited license and the service rules.
Basic facts
- Platform: Roblox.
- Owner and issuer: Roblox Corporation.
- Format: virtual balance linked to an account.
- ISO code: none.
- Legal tender: no.
- Main use: content and services within Roblox.
- General refund or conversion: no general right to a refund or exchange for money.
Robux are not cryptocurrency. They do not operate on a decentralized network and cannot be transferred freely outside systems authorized by Roblox.
How users obtain Robux
A user can acquire Robux through Roblox sales channels, gift cards, subscriptions, or other options enabled by the platform.
Creators can also earn Robux through authorized activities, such as selling items, passes, in-experience products, or subscriptions.
Not all Robux have the same origin. This difference is essential for understanding the creator cash-out program.
Purchase price
Roblox offers different amounts, purchase methods, and benefits. The cost per Robux can vary by:
- Package size.
- Web, app, or platform purchase.
- Region and local currency.
- Taxes.
- Subscription or promotional benefit.
- Available bonuses.
There is therefore no single universal price per Robux.
Cartonindex uses a stable, documented reference. The comparison identifies the package, number of units, region, date, and final price.
The price of one Robux is not a fixed universal amount.
Purchased Robux and earned Robux
Roblox allows certain eligible creators to request payments through the Developer Exchange program, known as DevEx.
The program applies to earned Robux that meet specific requirements. It does not automatically convert every purchased, received, or available Robux balance into money.
There are at least two different economic references:
- Purchase price: what a user pays to obtain Robux.
- DevEx conversion: what an eligible creator can receive for certain earned Robux.
These values must not be mixed. Cartonindex uses the purchase price of the selected package to represent the cost of acquiring the reference. It does not use a creator's possible payout.
What Robux can be used for
Robux can be used for:
- Avatar items and customization.
- Passes and access to experiences.
- Products and benefits inside experiences.
- Private servers.
- Content created by Roblox or authorized third parties.
An item priced in Robux does not always have a real-money resale value. Some exchange or resale features apply only to items and accounts that meet platform conditions.
How Cartonindex uses Robux
The index starts with a reference package published by Roblox. It divides the Robux amount by the package price to calculate Robux per dollar. It then converts the dollar price into each real currency.
The configuration must preserve:
- Robux amount.
- Price.
- Price currency.
- Region.
- Purchase channel.
- Whether a bonus is included or excluded.
- Observation date.
Available comparisons:
- Argentine peso vs. Robux.
- Venezuelan bolívar vs. Robux.
- Japanese yen vs. Robux.
- Colombian peso vs. Robux.
- Chilean peso vs. Robux.
- Euro vs. Robux.
What can change the index
Even when real exchange rates do not move, the equivalence can change if Roblox modifies:
- A package price.
- The number of Robux included.
- A bonus.
- Regional availability.
- The selected purchase channel.
A reference change must be recorded as a methodology change or a series break if it changes historical comparability.
What the equivalence does not mean
The comparison does not mean that someone can sell Robux to Cartonindex, convert them freely into pesos, or receive the purchase price through DevEx.
It also does not represent the value of every item available on Roblox. It uses only the acquisition cost of one package as a reference unit.
