Cartonindex compares official currencies with units that exist only in games, platforms, and products. Each reference needs a clear profile. The profile explains what the unit represents, who controls its issuance, and the limits of the comparison.
This section brings together every currency available in the index. The profiles provide stable context. Comparison pages show the current calculation, historical data, and sources for each date.
Real currencies
Real currencies are monetary units recognized by a country or monetary union. They are used to state prices, make payments, and settle obligations within their jurisdictions.
Cartonindex currently includes:
- Argentine peso, code ARS.
- Venezuelan bolívar, identified in the index through the selected Venezuelan data series.
- Japanese yen, code JPY.
- Colombian peso, code COP.
- Chilean peso, code CLP.
- Euro, code EUR.
A currency is not worse, weaker, or less useful because many units are needed to buy one U.S. dollar. The nominal size of a unit depends on historical decisions, accumulated inflation, redenominations, and accounting conventions.

Fictional and virtual currencies
Cartonindex uses “fictional currency” as a broad editorial category. It includes printed money for a board game and digital units used in entertainment services.
The current references are:
These units are not equivalent. Monopoly money is part of a physical product. Robux and V-Bucks are licensed virtual balances subject to each platform's rules.
No Cartonindex equivalence turns these units into legal tender. The index calculates a reference cost from a documented product or package.

How to read a profile
Each profile answers five questions:
- What is this currency or unit?
- Who issues or controls it?
- How is it obtained, and what can it be used for?
- Which reference does Cartonindex use to assign a comparable value?
- Which conclusions cannot be drawn from the result?
